چکیده

The second-generation biofuel strategy aims to fully utilize lignocellulose, which is the major component of plant cell wall and most abundant form renewable organic resources. Among three components i.e. cellulose, hemicellulose lignin, lignin has been least utilized one up now. Nevertheless, depolymerization (LD) produce aromatic chemicals fuels intensely explored in recent decade. Alcohols have mostly employed solvents LD reaction, are also involved into reaction. This review provides an overview catalysis chemistry reaction alcohols, especially methanol, ethanol isopropanol. advances firstly summarized, then roles alcohol outlined. self-conversions discussed, discussed four subtopics: supplying hydrogen, depolymerizing hindering repolymerization affecting monomer structure. Alcohol alcohol-derived intermediates provide active hydrogen for reductive catalytic carried out without input, effectively break ether linkages but not C-C react with monomers, suppressing side reactions. In addition, inhibits hydrogenation benzene rings involves formation products, structure monomers. With these understandings, challenges opportunities proposed.

Redox Catalysis Facilitates Lignin Depolymerization

Lignin is a recalcitrant and underexploited natural feedstock for aromatic commodity chemicals, and its degradation generally requires the use of high temperatures and harsh reaction conditions. Herein we present an ambient temperature one-pot process for the controlled oxidation and depolymerization of this potent resource. Harnessing the potential of electrocatalytic oxidation in conjugation ...

A Review of Aerogel Applications in Adsorption and Catalysis

Aerogels are a special class of porous material, which have excellent physicochemical properties such as low density, high porosity, high surface area and adjustable surface chemistry. Aerogels were first prepared several decades ago, but never truly commercialized due to their high cost. Technological advancements in the production and quality of different types of aerogel cut costs down and m...

Kraft Lignin Depolymerization in an Ionic Liquid without a Catalyst

In this paper, the depolymerization of lignin was successfully achieved by the thermal treatment of kraft lignin in butyl-1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec7-enium chloride ([DBUC4][Cl]) without a catalyst. The thermal treatment experiments were performed in an oven at 150, 200, and 250 °C for 1 h. The changes in kraft lignin structure over the course of depolymerization were characterized by gel per...
